"Why Serve?

We serve because we want to be contributing members of society.We want our work and our interactions with others to matter—to make this world a better place to be. We serve because it brings us joy.

How you serve is as important as that you serve.

Always be certain that your service is valuable and meaningful. Consider the rights, dignity, and autonomy of those you are serving. Don't do something for others that will hinder their ability to grow and learn on their own. Don't sevrve in a way that might hurt or embarrass someone. Serve in small ways or large, as long as you are making life a little better for your family, your community, your animal friends, the environment—this world.

Finally, as you serve, be humble and unobtrusive. It is a privilege to serve. You may not always be thanked or recognized. That is okay.  Your reward is your knowledge that you have made life a little better for others.
